A must do: Split
Wake up early to beat the crowds and make your way to the centre of Diocletian’s Palace (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). The palace was built in the 4th Century and was built as a military fortress, imperial residence and fortified town. You can spend all day discovering hidden treasures and exploring the Old Town; including the bell tower, the cathedral and many quaint streets with bars and restaurants.
Just outside the old town walls where the big statue is located I found some local markets with fresh food, drinks and antiques. Overall Split was my favourite city in Croatia, and if you can make time head over to Hvar Island for the day.
