People Tree create ethical, and beautiful garments which put people and the planet first. They have been around since 1991 and are pioneers in sustainable Fair Trade fashion. Every garment is made to the highest standards, including the Black Apron Jumpsuit photographed below. This piece is made from 95% organic cotton (and 5% elastane), which is grown using methods and materials that have a low impact on the environment. It is made by Assisi Garments - a factory based in South India which was set up by Franciscan nuns and provided training and employment for mute, deaf and economically disadvantaged women.
I can not express how important the background or story of a garment is - I repeat this a lot and there is a reason why: people matter, the planet matters and what you do with your dollar matters! Buy ethical and sustainable products to support a better future for garment workers and our environment.
What is so great about People Tree is their transparency - their website holds so much information about the fabrics they use, the people who make their product and the background of their brand. Read more of People Tree’s story here!
